What TDIU means for veterans

Total Disability based on Individual Unemployability (TDIU) allows some veterans to be paid at the 100% rate even when their schedular combined rating is lower, if service-connected disabilities prevent substantially gainful employment. Common schedular gates include one disability at 60%+, or a 70% combined rating with at least one disability at 40%+. Extraschedular paths may exist with strong evidence even when percentages fall short.

Evidence that matters

Rating percentages alone rarely win TDIU. Employment history, income records, medical opinions, and statements explaining why you left jobs usually matter.
